My name is Tyler and I am 21 years old and I am from the Duncanville/Desoto, Texas area. I have been competing in Special Olympics games for the last six years in the events of sailing, kayaking, basketball, swimming, bowling, stand up paddle boarding and track and field. I enjoy all of the above events and love the competition of it all. The games allow me to be able to socialize and meet many new people which has helped me to develop my social skills and have a lot of fun! I was chosen to represent TEAM TEXAS for the SO National Event in July 2018 that took place in Seattle, WA. I competed in Stand Up Paddle Boarding, which was a newly added SO sport. I brought home 2 Golds and one Silver in the event for TEAM TEXAS! That was a thrilling opportunity for which I was grateful and blessed to experience. My parents, HS Special Olympics coach and teacher went to Seattle also to support me.
I was recently chosen to represent the USA in the 2019 Special Olympics World games in the sailing event which will be held in Abu Dhabi, Emirates. There will be 335 other competitors from around the USA going to compete in various sporting events. I have been practicing sailing as much as possible since September (weather permitting), and plan to continue until early March 2019. I have a very knowledgeable unified partner for the sailing competition who is very good about sharing his sailing skills, sail boat and expertise with me. We have been sailing together for the last 6 years at White Rock Lake in Dallas. I am very excited to have this opportunity and look forward to representing the USA with the help of generous donations for the 2019 SO World Games. The athletes will need to collect $4500.00 each to be able to participate in the Special Olympics World Games 2019. Your generous donations are much appreciated in advance and thank you for your support! I will go proudly and represent the USA!!!!
I will be cheering for all of the other USA SO athletes competing in Abu Dhabi.
Go TEAM TEXAS and TEAM USA!!!
